New Additions

Post by Fred7A »

At the weekend I shared a table with a fellow collector at a local toy fair. I did quite well and sold more than I expected. I then ended up splashing out on some new items for my collection. I did pick up a cabinet, so at least I'll have somewhere to put them!

I've been looking for this version of the Corgi Marina for a long time now, so pleased to pick up this reasonable example.

Some odds and ends. I thought the small trunk was Dinky, but it's slightly bigger. I don't know where the bigger cases or the racing driver is from - can anyone help IDing these? The fireman and crate of bottles are Dinky.

These were from Eastleigh. I often go to Wimborne, but missed the latest toy fair there.

That Dinky lorry looks great, used to have one of those myself. Very nice selection Fred.

The blaze with black interior Corgi Marina is my diecast holy grail - amazing that you found one in decent shape for a fair price - no idea how many were made for BL´s Cowley launch of the Marina in April 1971 however its unlikely to be more than 1000.
I have seen the suitcase before and have a near identical one in yellow but no idea if it was sold with diecast - no clips for fitting on a roof so probably intended as a load which would require a large boot!

The Marina wasn't cheap, but not bad considering the scarcity. I know the seller and he gave me a big discount on the stickered price, but I still had to fork out £30. I was a bit dubious as the top was faded, but luckily some polish has brought it back up pretty well.

Its difficult to tell from just one small photo but if it is as tiday as it looks i wouldnt have hesitated and regarded 30 sovs a fair bargain. Are there any casting differences to body or baseplate compared to standard issues? Please share a rear + nearside view of it
Having owned a trio of Marinas for over 20 years this blaze 1st issue is the sole diecast to elude me,lost at least 2 ebay auctions over the years for tattier examples

I have to agree on the 30 squids for that Marina, would still have been mine at 60 squids...

The trunk near the milk bottles that does not open, is from the 'MERIT' range of Railway accessories, the others look to be from Hong Kong and may have come from a friction powered toy car, as many of them from 'TELSALDA' as an example, had them.
