Matchbox 1 - 75 Pairings

This topic is alluded to with the another poster and his newly acquired Thunderbird and Refreshment van - but I thought it deserved it's own thread.

I have some pics of the most obvious pairings. The Mercedes pair is indeed beautiful. My collection is thousands of km away as I am offshore at the moment and only have my "virtual collection" with me. Pics lifted from the web. Very few of these are my models although I have a blue Dunlop van here!

The two tractor pairs obviously go together.

The 16 b trailer, 15 b road tractor and 8 bulldozer are another obvious combination - replicating the Kingsize Laing model.

In 1-75 the tow vehicles are the

9d - blue and white boat
23 Caravans
38 Honda and trailer
43 horse float
48 a and b speed boat and the
73 refreshment canteen.

What do other members fancy as the ideal combination for these remaining six tow vehicles?

Consider colour, appropriateness, plastic hook v metal hook and capacity to tow in real life. Don't think a 43 a Hillman Minx - one of my all time favourites - really tow anything without overheating.

I rather like the white mustang and blue and white launch. Quite an aquatic look and feel about it. I hope to acquire both models sometime. In my display cabinet I have a beautiful 65 B red jag with a broken tow hook. I disguise that by resting my silver refreshment van on the tab.

What combinations do you recommend?

That's great. Keep them coming. I didn't think the Landrover had a tow hook that could tow anything. Kinda imagine that outfit at a rough country horse event or fair ground.

I rather fancy the Larger Landrover with the yellow 43 c horse float. Roof top camping gear sort of undoes it. Maybe the yellow caravan.

Hi all
Pairings can be fun because although this is a hobby for us these were originally toys.Glad I could spark another thread.

Here's a requested one and another favorite studebaker wagon with boat.My dad had this combo when I was a little boy in the late 70's.

Happy collecting

Bill

Thank you Bill.

The Studebaker and speed boat look fabulous, quite lifelike.

Tinman some superb efforts there. The burgundy pickfords are beautiful. Love the 4 zephyrs on the transporter. My first car was a MK111. Think it's the only match box car where I also own the real thing.
