I have to make comment on the condition of the metal lower half of this model against the condition of the plastic upper (Windows and roof), area. The Two don't match condition wise, leading me to think this is Two different model components put together, and if this is the case, I hope it was not expensive to buy.

Yes I tend to agree Ghosty, the plastic roofs got messed up very easily with playwear and these look pristine compared to the bodywork. It's quite common swapping parts to improve a rarer model (eg ice cream vans). Still a nice hard to find turquoise if genuine.

Congrats Braintrust

I agree with Ghostie that the top looks like it could have been swapped but given the condition of the paint it looks like turquoise is the original color.
The top can easily be swapped for a more playworn example if you wish.

As long as the axel ends look good and you feel you paid a fair price, I would feel happy with the model.

Nice catch !

I kinda agree the top looks almost to good.

The 68B Turquoise is probably one of the most "common of the rare models", as there is always a few available on eBay. They still command, in my own opinion, a higher price than it should, mainly because it's not that rare after all.

However, real mint models are hard to come by.

well that does annoy me! It looks more consistent in person but I can see how easily it could be changed. I don't like even the slightest touch up let alone half the thing swapped. I must see what I paid or maybe I better not check so I don't cry :(

The turquoise version was only shipped to the States (and to Canada?), and even then only in limited quantities. This means that there will always be a bouyant market for them in Europe.

I did not know that detail! We never stop learning in this hobby! I'm in Canada so that must explain why I find it not so rare!

I'm not sure what you compared it too or how it was studied. There is no doubt all the parts are original Lesney parts and it matters not which interior it now has as both were found in the first issue bus. As far as it being the same top that was placed on the bus at the factory ... that's pretty hard to swallow. Judging by the condition of the model, the original top was probably missing if not damaged. It certainly has been pared with a top from a minty model. Even models with really nice paint usually have all sorts of very light scratches on the roof.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
