There is no reason this simi circle should be here except to guide placement of a roundel (I checked, it's the right size). There is nothing on the prototype that this semi circle represents. There is a hood roundel on every 1:1 DBR 5 I've ever seen. This makes me wonder if some very early (or even preproduction) models might be out there with a hood roundel.

I am firmly convinced that the original intention was to fit a bonnet roundel but, to the best of my knowledge, this was never carried through. (Certainly I have never seen one, and I've been looking for years.) It seems likely that any such model (should it actually exist) would have the silver trim at the front.
However, there is a problem, which is that the detailed section on the nose of the car (the bonnet if ypu like), is slighlty recessed wrt the surrounding casting. I have no idea why this should be so, but this may well explain why the nose roundel was never fitted.
