I'll root it back out over the weekend.

On my previous return visit I actually looked at the wheel in question under a magnifying glass because it isn't the clearest of stamps.

At some point I will log the mould numbers on my collection. Such an undertaking though!

These are the best photos I can muster. As you'll see, the hollow F39 is very clear but the solid wheel is not quite as easy to read. I still think that it says F39 though: -

Thank you John for the extra pictures of the #24c wheel mould numbers.

There certainly is a very clear 'F39' moulded onto the 'Hollow' wheel, that's fine we do not need to mention that one anymore.

There certainly is 'F39' moulded onto the 'Solid' wheel, but on zooming the picture it looks like there was a problem with something connected to this wheel and / or the tooling, because it looks to me another number is hiding behind the 'F39' ...!

What shall I do now...do the research to put specific production dates to each wheel tool, collate a chart showing all the wheel mould numbers or...be contented about the fact this 'Rogue' wheel exists on a model from the 1970 production period...Hmm, that's a difficult decision!

Well, we're halfway through 2015 now but I'm all for recycling threads...

After a further period of hibernation I've enjoyed a little flurry of collecting activity recently. I won a few lots at the Ron Burgess auction 2 weeks ago, but as is my experience of Vectis, I'm still waiting for my parcel. I picked up a few variations missing from my collection so I'll post them up when they eventually arrive.

I'm pleased with this 48-c Dodge Dumper with rear spiro wheels which was an eBay BIN: -

Image

I can't say I've seen many of these before so it must have been a very short run.

Got this Canadian carry case from the same seller (sorry about the table cloth): -

Image

I've got a few early Superfast carry cases now, more for practicality really as they are handy for unboxed models. One of the bonuses of living in the UK is that the generally cool weather doesn't turn these things into chemical warfare for Lesney paint.

Nothing particularly noteworthy about this 8-e Mustang, although I have noticed that the early (numbers only) wide wheels do actually have an inner rim, albeit a very small one.

I did post this 36-c on the Superfast Casting Show thread a few weeks back but feel it's worth posting again: -

Image

I can't see this variation with square slot wheels listed anywhere and wondered if any other members have one?

Great to see those F39 photos, its conclusive and fascinating to see solid wheel with F prefix, dont recall seeing one before!
Square slots are just one batch of moulds of a standard 10.5mm size - I find the completely irregular shaped slots on the earliest solid wheels much more fascinating because they most likely wore out first perhaps even in 1969 :ugeek:

It's been a slow summer but here are a few of my recent finds.

Hat's off to Motorman for pointing out this late issue tanker with labels from the 13d Dodge wreck truck: -

Image

Speaking of which, I picked up this late issue in darker yellow with the step cast: -

Image

I don't usually pay a premium for label variations but I've wanted this Mercury for a while now. That cat really does sken like a bucket of whelks: -

Image

Found a thin wheel, small arch version of the gift set BMC, together with a well-decorated thin wheel, enlarged arch model: -

Image

Pleased to find another addition to the square slot club. The 'TM-less' G box was found separately and is very hard to find in my opinion: -

Image

And finally, a Porsche 910 with dark amber glazing. It may not be as scarce as the colourless window model, but it is much harder to find than the light amber: -

Nice additions JP, and a very warm welcome to the clipped label #32 tanker club I wonder if yours was made during the same production run as i note the label is in the same position as mine. Can you confirm if your tanker has the gray plastic baseplate?.

Well that takes the membership up to 2 unless any other members have other examples?

The explanation for both solid and hollow F39 11.2mm wheel moulds existing may point to a simple mistake of not recording the numbers issued for the final solid mould made so that the first hollow mould duplicated its numbers - perhaps we should be looking for the whole range of F numbers in both solid and hollow form now.......and expect to find them as the only range duplicated
