Pickfords Shutter Door

Post by johnboy »

It spoils the model if the shutter door is missing on these vans, so if you've got a nice van and you want to complete it, fitting a door is quite straight forward and only takes a few minutes. I had a genuine door from a beater which I used for this and I used a pick to help. (Take it carefully and you won't scratch the van with the pick, you may be able to use a finger instead but I couldn't).

A pick is handy to flatten the door inside the roof and to very gently work it back under the interior frame

That seems like a lot of work. The bases generally pop right off the model and go back on as easily.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

True, but this one is a two-line model and I wasn't taking the chance. It only takes a few minutes and I rest easy knowing the base is left intact.

That's the one Reg, it took me some time to get around to looking at it. I've had the bases off of these before too but I had one where half of the spread rivet split off, so no chance of that happening here :)
