Vauxhall Victor

Not being an avid 1-75 collector but taking an interest, I would be interested on opinions of the two Victors shown in the photo'. Is the lighter one a sun fade or is this a standard colour? I can find no reference to this colour On Nick's site.

Hello Rod, I think the usual inspections are required here to try and establish the model's true colour. Can you see inside the body through wheel-arches to see if the colour in there is richer than that on the outside.

I do know there are models from this later production period with glazing that are in a much paler Yellow, similar to the one shown below.

Obviously, impossible to say for sure from the photograph Rod, but I don't really see "yellow" in that top/central Victor. So no, it does not appear to be a standard color for this casting. The first thing that came to mind for me was that the color looked like the cream or pinkish-cream used on the 74A Refreshment canteens and the early 22B Vauxhall Cresta models.
The Victor joined the range (according to Stannard) sometime in 1958. The model we're talking about appears to be a green windowed example with 9mm GPW. Not a model from early in the model's life within the range.
The 22B Cresta also joined the range in 1958.
The Refreshment canteen joined the range in November of 1959. I suppose it is conceivable that the Victor in question could have gone through the line around the same time they were painting the early cream, pinkish-cream canteens and Crestas.
But then this is the red-green color blind guy offering up input here, so take everything I offer with a healthy dose of skepticism.

The paint finish looks a bit dull to me, perhaps pointing to a repaint. If it were sunfaded to that degree, then surely the windows would also have suffered and be badly crazed?
Any chance of some good base photographs, clearly showing the rivet from various angles?

Is it possibly discoloured due to other enviromental impacts i.e. a smoky atmosphere?

The photo' is from a local auction site and is the only one available. The asking price for all in the photo' is 40,00 €. Worth a gamble?

No! (Looking again, I'm pretty sure it's missing the tow hook - which, with the body paint in that condition, points to a repaint.)

For about £29 in the UK, I would go for it, the other Three Matchbox cars look pretty good, then you can tell us if the other Victor in the picture has Black wheels...!

If it's a local auction, is it possible to view the item personally?

'Local' was a loose term, the models are about 600 km away!
Did contact the seller and the lighter Victor is definitely a repaint. However the yellow one does have black wheels, so what do I do now?
