Car Transporter

In finding a space for the transporter in my display cabinet I had to move a few things around. I rephotographed a couple of other Dinky's whilst doing so. Some of you may have seen the US Transporters elsewhere but as that site has now shut down I thought I would post them here.

Original US AutoTransporters Car Carrier, with the correct plastic wheels





Code 3 Repaint with Supertoy hubs and matching trailer that was never produced by the factory.

I had to move my only Tekno Artic too. How old is this one Mick? Not too old I am guessing, the fastener on the trailer rear is a neat touch.

Thats a big collection of trucks - the Tekno Scania is from the late 1960s (or perhaps even early 1970s if made for Scania or made in Holland) from the wheel design which remained in production in Holland in the 1970s. Early issues of the Scania and trailer have flat disc hubs

The big bulk lot I scored a month or so ago has slowed down the acquisitions of late as I replenish the model fund. This post is the usual mix of old and new, with an outstanding octogenarian to start things off.

26 Bugatti Rail car in amazing condition for its age, in production from 1934 to 1940, bought on our local auction site for a steal. The seller a UK expat who in retirement is selling off the gifts he got from his antique dealer dad a long while ago. I can't wait to see what else he digs up as French Dinky are unusual here but one in this condition is extraordinary.

With my original version and the Leyland Test Chassis.



I've always wondered why the tipper didn't have a driveshaft like the Test Chassis. It should have been relatively easy to achieve.



The Test chassis differential gearing is attached to the leading rear drive axle and "drives" when the wheels turn.



The BP version of the 783 Petrol Pumps.Missing one top and one nozzle. The pump top is available as a repro item so one is on the way.





Finally a 948 Tractor Trailer McLean. The auction photo showed a faded, dirty truck (as well as a piece of the sellers NZ countryside), but the labels looked relatively intact and it had the trailer doors. I took a punt and won it.



When it turned up I gave it a clean and lightly used rubbing compound to expose fresh paint. There is still a little work to be done on this and I don't want to take off too much high point paint, but it looks better already. Replacement labels for the cab and trailer doors are on their way too.
