1a Aveling Barford Road Roller

Post by Diecast »

Some time ago I have mentioned the casting variations by the first model 1a Aveling Barford Road Roller. Now I have get another variation. The model is without the gold trim on the steering wheel. The question is whether it is a variation, or the gold trim on the steering wheel was omitted only ( both models are the same casting variation with the curved lower ends of canopy).

In those days, trim was outsourced to workers who were paid by the piece work. Some were more liberal with trim than others and it makes it difficult to catalog every deviation.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Hi Antonin, I've checked mine and they all have trim on the steering wheels including the curved canopy versions. Like many of these outsourced models, the trim coverage varies significantly. It would be interesting to see if more come forward though.
