Microsoft release stuff free so the public can find all the faults and advance their development for them for free.

Windows 8 has the additional software to cope with touch screen computers.

motorman wrote:Thanks for the link Ian, the tips in the article will come in very handy should any of us decide to take the plunge into Windows 10. I am holding off until we hear some more reviews about it. I use Windows 8 at work and i hate it so i am reluctant to upgrade my home computer which uses windows 7, which i love using.
Ditto for me - I get very frustrated using 8.1 on the laptop but 7 on the desktops helps me keep my sanity! I'm also in the "wait and see what eventuates" brigade but since i've been using dual boot Linux/Windows machines since 1997 I'm probably going to switch to linux completely on my next new machine as I'm running one laptop with Ubuntu at work, one laptop at work with Chrome (hate it!) one laptop at work with Win8.1 (frustrating), one laptop at home running win 7, one laptop at home running XP, and three desktops at home running only Debian linux. All my other machines (17 desktops) run dual boot systems with various versions of Debian and windows (from win 95 to Win7) - yes I know its a bit of overkill having all those computers... but I never throw any thing out until I can't fix it any more! Some of those machines have been running almost 24/7 since 1995! (I used to own Wellington's first cyber cafe/email shop) Most are used as file servers, web servers, or print servers these days...
