one for ghostie
Hi Ghostie just been talking to a friend of mine who is going to do a photo shoot with a 1930s black Rolls Royce, it has appeared on many TV programs & its the car that was in Dads Army when they painted it in army colours. I will see if I can get photos of it & try & post them Pete

Thank's Pete. There were in fact Two Rolls-Royce cars painted in the "Dad's Army" episode, a 1934 Rolls-Royce 20-25 HP, chassis number GRC 33, index number BMG 443 and a 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith, chassis number WHC 54, index number GLA 719. Be interesting to see which one it is they have.

Well that is a coincidence, I have just watched that D.A. episode, the Captain's car, last week. When lady Maltby (Mavis Pugh, playing lady Lavender in You Rang M'Lord) offered her "just an ordinary sort of Rolls" to Captain Mainwaring.
And more than that I have reserved a (look alike) Lledo Rolls Royce to be painted like the "army" car in due course.

Hi Ghostie & all Just been to see the old bus its the same one that was used in Dads Army BMG 443. its now in black & dark plum. It has had a hectic life been in quite a few films. Over the years it has been painted yellow, green & grey. My mate said not post any photos until I have had permission from the owner. Had a look inside the car the hand brake & gear lever are side by side, a odd combination as they would rest by your knee. The car nearly ended up abroad I am going to phone the owner tomorrow to see if he would mind me putting some photos on.Pete

Hi all have spoken to the car's owner this morning he said I could post some photos but I am having trouble posting the photos, can't seem to put them in a file. One of the early owners was Ronnie Knight, it was in a film with Elizabeth Taylor, it has been in quite a few TV programs the present owner is going to take it to some shows & more film work Pete

OK Pete, maybe I can help out for now with a few pictures.
Here she is as seen during the opening credits of "To the Manor Born". Here she is during an actual story. Here she is in the 1969 film with Elizabeth Taylor, "Secret Ceremony". Here she is in more recent times. She has been owned for many Years by a Mr Brian Saunders in Enfield, North London. She is a typical 4 light saloon with body by H J Mulliner on the 20-25 HP chassis. This sort of Rolls-Royce became the most popular old car for collectors to buy and restore because everything can be taken apart and worked on easily.
