The question was asked as to when the style of "MATCHBOX" was used.

The "QUOTATION" marks have been used since the early days of marketing of the Lesney products, it appears in late 1950's catalogues and still in use up to the 1981 to 82 pocket catalogue. From 1983 onwards, the quotations were replaced by 'APOSTROPHE' marks, and the border colours were Amber and Red.

The Yellow and Red border colours appear during 1983, but with 'APOSTROPHE' marks, so the rare trial blister card owned and shown by "Numi" above, appears to be a composite of Two styles.

The quotation marks put in to 1981-82.
The border colours put in to 1983 onwards.

Hope that helps.

Basically Numi, Yes, it appears to be Mongrel like and we know there are Mongrel models from every range made by Lesney over the Years, so it stands to reason there must be items such as packaging etc to also exist, we just don't normally see it until collectors such as your good self, join an excellent forum such as this and show us (...and make us Green with envy!).
