14c Bedford Lomas Ambulance
14c Bedford Lomas Ambulance
I've got a fair number of 14c's and they've all got gloss baseplates, except one. It's not mentioned in the description but is the flat paint on these well known or common?

Hi John.
As far as I know this variation has not been recorded before, I just checked my 15 Lomases and they all had gloss black bases

Re: 14c Bedford Lomas Ambulance
I had a similar experience recently with a 62b TV Service Van.
I tried to take a picture, but the difference is less obvious than in reality:
This one has the later base casting with the front rivet, but still "Rentaset" decals. Maybe from a similar timeframe as the Lomas shown above (late 1967 or early 1968).
It seems some odd examples of black base models of that era had bases painted in a flatter black occasionally, but they are not quite a flat as the later ones from 1969. This may well apply to a few other models too.

Re: 14c Bedford Lomas Ambulance
checked mine and all of them are glossy
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

Thanks for checking Dan and for your thoughts Christian. I'll have to look at these more carefully in the future, normally I have a quick glance at the roof and wheels and move on prontoBrad Pittiful wrote:checked mine and all of them are glossy

Re: 14c Bedford Lomas Ambulance
I was looking at the 14c Bedford Lomas Ambulance I put into auction tonight. Similar to Nick Jones' variation code 23 (black decals, smooth roof without decal, round block, BPW) but aberrant in other details: no silver bumper trim, cream instead of white interior front and side. To check out the pictures see: http://www.ebay.com/usr/delictaceous . Note that the auction ends Sunday April 6 6pm Pacific Time.
