Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Post by GHOSTHUNTER »

Since 2009, Tyco have been trying to secure a license to make miniature models of recent Rolls-Royce cars, in particular the mighty Rolls-Royce Phantom. It was hoped a model would be introduced into the 'MATCHBOX' range to compliment the Bentley 'Continental' GT, but BMW (the current owner of the Rolls-Royce car company), simply would not give the go-ahead, its like they are carrying on what the original Rolls-Royce Motor Cars company used to do, but are more strict about the issuing of such license agreements.

If Tyco and BMW were to come to an agreement and a Matchbox model were to appear, I personally would not buy it, I do not collect toys or models of Rolls-Royce cars made under the ownership of BMW, I don't really like the real cars anyway, but looking at the latest model from Rolls-Royce called the 'Phantom Limelight', I could be tempted, as this latest incarnation of the Phantom range don't look too bad, the frontal treatment is moving back to being 'Proper' Rolls-Royce, what do you think...

There will be 1/43rd scale models of this from at least 'TRUESCALE MINIATURES', so I may just get one, but I doubt we will see one in the Matchbox range.
