73a - RAF PRESSURE REFUELLER

Post by tandyfan »

Checking my models (both nominally NJ code 2's) except that the one has slightly smaller front wheels, whereas the other has 6 identical wheels.

I chalk up mismatched wheels as a negative variation when making notes about such models.

I take it you mean class them as an "ooops" rather than an intentional variation?

If we were to include every 'oops' in the variation table they would mean adding thousands of odd variations so the easiest way is to not include any at all.

I agree, I think it would also make collecting less enjoyable if you were always chasing an infinately long list of what were in effect, factory errors.

Yes, errors. Most negative variations have defects that detract from the cosmetics of the model and, personally, I reject these models in nearly all instances. I don't enjoy collecting errors or imperfect products and because of that I devalue nearly negative variation model (in term of what I feel such models are worth).

I know there are others who actually seek and collect such models and sometimes they will even pay a premium for them. Each to their own collecting style and preference.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
