You can't afford to be too much of a purist where the Corgi Avenger's Gift Set is concerned. Steed's Bentley should really be dark green (not red) and Emma's Lotus should really be very light blue (not white). I don't know why they did this.
Corgi did release a dark green Steed's Bentley (same casting) in their Corgi Classics range with a white metal figure around 1998.
BTW, what's the cross hatching on the windscreen all about ?

Re: My first post and John Steed's Red Bentley
In the 4th series (the last shot in B&W) Emma Peel drives a white Lotus Elan S2. Only from the 5th series the light blue Elan was seen. And Steed used several 3-litre Bentleys during the 4th series, and you would need very good eyes to recognize a dark red or dark green Bentley shot in B&W. Although I agree that a green one would be better, just because the box shows a green one.
Corgi probably changed the colour from the early green with red wheels release to red to make the Avengers car more distinctive from the World of Wooster Bentley.
Nimbus, are the gold wheels on your Bentley original? I think I have only seen unpainted silver ones?

To answer the question by "AJR" about the 'Cross Hatching' on the Bentley windscreen.
Corgi released the Le Mans type 3 Ltr Bentley in February 1964, as model number 900. It was based on the famous winning car from the 1927 Le Mans event, despite being involved in a serious crash. The cars were run with stone guards placed over vulnerable areas like the fuel tank and the windscreen. Corgi tried to represent this effect by moulding those 'Cross Hatch' lines onto the windscreen.
When Corgi decided to use the same model for the 'Avengers' car (and the 'Wooster' car), they did not change the tooling, so the same windscreen moulding appears on these models as well.
The original 1966 issued 'Avengers' Bentley can be found with bare metal, Brass or Red wheel rims.
Dark Red, Light Red or Green body.
Dark or light Grey 'Steed' figure.
Straight or Angled brake lever.
Hard nylon or soft rubber tyres.
Countersunk or domed base rivets.
...and
Dark Orange-Brown or Oak-Brown seats.

Thanks again, GHOST, you are a real "Corgi-font of knowledge" !

Re: My first post and John Steed's Red Bentley
Yes, I agree, if there are any questions about Rolls-Royce or Bentley - not just from Corgi - then Ghosty is the man.
Which brings me to question that I would like to ask just here although it's not directly related: Are there two versions of the standing World of Wooster figure - with and without base? Or are some just missing the bases?

Stop it Nimbus, you are making me blush...nimbus wrote:Thanks again, GHOST, you are a real "Corgi-font of knowledge" !

I have put 5 of my own 'John Steed' Bentley models together, showing Brass wheel rims (at the back and front left), the more common bare metal wheel rims (on the right), light Grey 'John Steed' (on the left), and dark Grey 'John Steed' (on the right), and the all important very hard to find Green version (rear left), which causes much conversation among collectors as to the model's true status as a 'Steed' car, trust me it is, as the research confirms it as such and you will find that dealers who have had this version for sale will very quickly tell you it is genuine, because if they can sell it to you, they are quids-in and laughing all the way to the Bank!

Thank's c007rgi, just doing my job...
In answer to your 'Wooster' figure question. They should be on a little base and are fitted by Two little pegs, One in each foot and they can be removed without too much fuss.
In the picture below I have put 2 of my own 'World of Wooster' Bentley cars together to show the figures and you might like to know the figures come in Two colours, the one with the left Bentley is more of a Mustard-Yellow colour, but the one with the right Bentley is more of a Tan colour. The driver figures also show colour differences.
