So, I am right in assuming several models were never issued in thin wheels? #19, #45, #68 come to mind. I looked in the SF casting show and for #45 I didn't see any thin wheels shown. How do I determine then that the #41 never came with wide wheels back in 1970? Is there markings on the base that would tell me otherwise? What guide do you recommend to help figure out all of the SF models?SMS88 wrote:The white and the tomato coloured SF8 Mustangs all had wide 10mm x 4mm wheels when released late 1969 - some 1970 SF conversions like the SF72 Jeep,SF42 crane and many trucks like SF4 + SF63 Dodges only came with 4mm wide wheels but others like SF7 did have thin SF truck wheels when first converted but were fitted with 4mm wide wheels before they were deleted.fixer wrote:As far as I'm aware yes all transitional S/f are narrow wheeled as they are based on the corresponding R/w version also look for S/F in R/w colours some of these are vhtf

this is THE place to go just follow "matchbox" then "models" then "lesney superfast" and the wonderful world of superfast will be at your fingertips
#45 does come with narrow wheels but is rare
#41 is as SMS88 says earlier editions have narrow wheels
#68 is pictured on Christians site with narrow wheels but I have never seen another example of this

I may be wrong, but my understanding is that the narrow-wheeled examples represent pre-productions (although who is to say that none were sold at retail outlets as part of the initial release?).fixer wrote:#45 does come with narrow wheels but is rare

i'm thinking of J's one , I know the one you have is likely to be prepro but his is in the "normal" green so I assumed it was a very early production run
maybe it's me that's got it wrong!!
