My trip to the Dark Side continues

Post by hydra427 »

Just starting to get into the SF transitional models. Have 8 more to add yet but I thought I'd share some of my newest finds. Looking forward to a couple of up and coming shows to see what I can get.

Hope you enjoy, I still have a lot to learn about the SF side of things. Only going to collect the transitional models so let me know if there is anything I should look for in this range.

The white wide wheels GT40 is a 1978 onwards Japanese issue that doesnt belong in a G box! All very nice

Lovely examples and good looking boxes. The #22 is one of my all time favourites and your example looks superb. I agree with Micks comments re the #41 you need to look out for the narrow wheeled variation.and try to look for transitionals in the type F boxes. Still a superb little line up

Are all true transitional SF narrow wheeled? I have a few others that are wide wheels as well. Is there a listing that shows the true transitionals?

As far as I'm aware yes all transitional S/f are narrow wheeled as they are based on the corresponding R/w version also look for S/F in R/w colours some of these are vhtf

The white and the tomato coloured SF8 Mustangs all had wide 10mm x 4mm wheels when released late 1969 - some 1970 SF conversions like the SF72 Jeep,SF42 crane and many trucks like SF4 + SF63 Dodges only came with 4mm wide wheels but others like SF7 did have thin SF truck wheels when first converted but were fitted with 4mm wide wheels before they were deleted.

Pre-pro, sales sample or maybe even a good custom - never been 100% convinced by the 2 or 3 that have been properly photographed online perhaps because they have medium sized 10mm SF wheels instead of the 11.2mm solid ones used on all the earliest 1969 pre-pros!

actually looking at it the arches are for the wider wheels so you may have something there
maybe this is more suited to the #8 castings thread as we seem to be hijacking this one :)
