DIECAST HUNTING IN VANCOUVER

A friend of mine and hard core diecast collector has just returned from Canada after a holiday there.

Whilst staying in Vancouver he decided to see if there were any local collector shops near to his lodgings. A quick google search too him to a place called Wilkinson Automobilia, and on entering he realised that this was the place to be in Vancouver if you are remotely interested in Diecast.

So if any of you guys are planning a wee trip to Vancouver Canada any time soon, i have it on good authority that you would regret not visiting this place which incidently were having a 25%-35% off sale price on all stock including vintage models.

My mate was standing in the shop and watched as another customer bought £1000 worth of vintage Dinky including the Guy Sprats Van featured below which he managed to get for £200 after the retailer discounted it by 25% in the sale. Not bad for such a good example.

WOW! we used to have shops like this everywhere in the U.K. not any more !

I'll take the mint in box Dinky Toys Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III, behind the Spratt's in the bottom picture.

Chances are Nick, they are regulars at this shop and Motorman has now spilled the beans on their favorite haunt. The 30% off on that Matchbox case looks very inviting with the 17 Moving Van and 50 Commer looking ripe for the picking in it. This also reminds me of childhood stores that had there wares proudly displayed for us kids to drool over when our Aunts invited us to pick out just one Toy from a huge display cabinet. Thanks for the pictures Motorman, you may not be very popular in Vancouver right now, LOL....kwakers

I have been visiting them for a number of years as I used to live in Langley in the lower mainland. I am now a bit up the coast but still stop by when I get to the city. You can see their website at http://www.eautomobilia.com/ and buy online if you wish. In person is better as they are very open to dickering as well. Usually a great selection of everything and don't forget to ask to see their junk bin as they very often have chipped and worn Lesney's in there.

Another place is a vintage games store in Langley on Salt Lane. Pete always has a great selection of all types of vintage toys from diecast to games to transformers etc. He is also very open to dickering. I have never heard of the term "Dickering".....it sounds a little bit dodgy and something that you would likely end up in jail for!!.

A common term here, I have used it all my life. Haggling always seemed to me to have a negative connotation to it. But as long as the idea works and both parties agree, all is good. If I have anything in my collection you would like I'll dicker ye a fair dicker!

I'd definitely rather be haggled than dickered, I did know someone who was bartered once, but that's another story
