I have seen this set sealed with a red VW Beelte inside.

It looks like it could be a red one in that box photo I've shown. It's interesting that it's superfast and the other two aren't even though they are both available as superfast.

Hi Steve,

The VW was changed to SF a lot earlier than the tanker and towtruck though - might explain the mixture of wheels if this was issued in early 1970 - i.e. after the VW was changed to red, but before the other two were changed to SF.

We know from collector catalogs that a small quantity of red VW Beetles seem to have been made for this set while white ones were still being made.From assembled photos showing both a red + white in the same shots it suggests to me that Lesney were planning on offering a pair of VWs with this showroom in a similar manner to the yellow+white #41s in the racing set.Red rw#15 VWs are vhtf but regarded often as genuine because of such early proof red ones existed when this garage was a new product
