Built the fuel tank but as the instructions suggest fixing it to the chassis, I have built that too. The fuel tank is one aspect that requires a lot of attention with the removal of the pre-moulded stone-Gaurds and fuel lines and then the rebuilding of those as separate components. Had I been at home and this was my kit, all this work would have been done, so for this build, I will leave all this as Airfix intended, but with some highlighting and careful painting.

As you see it in the above pictures, it has a light wash of Brunswick Green, HUMBROL No.3 (a slightly lighter version of Brunswick!), but will give this another wash of Satin dark Green, HUMBROL No.195.

Here is the painted chassis and rear tank. The Green you see in the above picture was given a wash of satin Green and Matt Black mixed, but it dried with too much of a matt finish, so I had to go all over it with the thinners from the top of the Gloss Black paint tin and it now has a much more accurate finish with a cross between satin and gloss. It also looks Black in the picture, but I assure you it is the closest colour match I have ever seen to the very dark Green used on real 'Blower' Bentley cars!

I have been adding the magneto links made from tiny strips of plasticard with Five holes drilled and then pinned together with stretched sprue and after some Silver painting, the effect it just right.

The engine is very nearly finished as some items won't be added until it is in the chassis. The exhaust manifold has had some extra 'Heat Use' weathering and while I did not have the correct paint colours for this, it has turned out OK.

This shows how well the colouring of the exhaust manifold has turned out, quite pleased with this.

Before putting the engine into the chassis, I may attempt a really thinned Black wash around the lower sections of the engine to simulate oil deposits, because if you see where the very large oil filling pipe is, it would never stay clean around that area!

A bit more detailing on the supercharger's carbs.

Detail 1, all these bits and pieces of Blue plastic and fuse wire are the fuel line linkages and they will be painted a Gold-Copper colour.
Detail 2, this is just a small piece of wire let into this area to represent a large screw on the real casing.
Detail 3, this part is as Airfix moulded but they had it smooth which on many 'Superchargers' is correct because it is a little badge, on the 'Blower' Bentley cars by Birkin, which this car is based on, the badge is missing, leaving an empty hole!
Detail 4, this is a little wire union and rubber hose, something Airfix never moulded so I have added it and the Black hose you see will go into the engine bay.

this is looking good Kev .....your attention to detail is superb any "normal" person would not think to add a screw or carry out the no badge detail

Well Reg, when I was younger, I had Three options as to what to do with my life...

1, have a misspent youth in the Snooker halls.
2, chase all the Ladies and have some fun.
3, lock myself in the bedroom and do model kits.

Guess which one I chose...

What is not easily seen is the 'Weathering' all around the engine and supercharger installation, this was done to mess-up all my work so far! but also to add realism to the model. Weathering consisted of just brushing on the thinner liquid from the top a tin of model paint, which always holds a certain amount of the actual colour, but is mostly just a very thin and runny liquid, ideal for giving the impression of dirty oily engine areas.

This picture shows all the linkages for the 'SU' Carbs, they don't actually work, but the potential was there...!
