Just picked up this lot

Post by RSSierra »

I predominantly collect Dinky and Corgi.

But I saw this lot on our local auction site and recognised a few harder to find versions. This along with the fact that the majority of the accessories are still there prompted me to hit the buy now. They were listed as playworn so hopefully not too far gone, but at the equivalent of under a quid a car inclusive of postage not too much of a gamble.

Only the single photo below was posted, the seller had only completed 24 trades in 9 years so not a prodigious seller.

All 1970-73 issues - wonder why only a couple of non matchbox items without any Hot Wheels Redlines or Playarts.......but a good selection of transitional SF - hope the #4 turns out to be the rare Muira yellow issue!

A nice clean looking lot and it's good to have the accessories. Maybe the tracks on the Ford Tractor will be useful :)

The dome light on the fire chief looks like it is red. a very hard to find variation.

Thanks for the comments, as I mentioned I know next to nothing on these. I have had a look at the variation listings for a few but will leave the photo's below to satisfy your various observations / queries. Condition varies, a few have bent axles. But i am happy with them overall.

I went back to the seller overnight thanking her for the items and asking how they all came to be of the same era as a group. Her and her husband purchased all the transitionals for their son in the early seventies, whilst the husband was project managing the Rarotonga airport. They are now moving into a retirement home and the son didn't want them. The proverbial one owner group for 40+ years. Glad they ended up with me

Nice lot there. The red lamp on the Mercury is only rare on the RW version of this casting - the SF version is found with both blue and red, with both equally common. I like the yellow Merc convertible with red seats which is uncommon, and the Salmon/pink BMC which was a short run.

Cheers,
