Is this a repaint?

Post by L-esney »

Hello again,

somewhere on this magnificent forum I have read that the red & white Commer pick-uponly came with SPW,... that probably means that the one I bought a little while ago is a fake (or a repaint).
Could you guys give me some tips on how to recognise a repaint or fake model so I can prevent myself frombuying these models.
Thanks in advance!!

Greetings,

L-esney.

paint looks very thick as if it has been overpainted with a brush with hobby enamel. Just handle lots of genuine original models to familiarise yourself with the thickness and shine of Lesney factory colours + rivits

Difficult to say, but the grille trim looks very heavy and the change from the white to the red looks too sharp.

Another "faking" method seems to be to replace axles and wheels. Then original paint and still riveted base. Am I wrong ?
