Magiruz-Deutsch missing arm.
Magiruz-Deutsch missing arm.
Hello everybody,
recently I found a tan Magiruz-deutsch from Lesney,.... well,.. I bought half such a model because the arm is missing.
My question to you guys is: "Can this be fixed if I ever find the correct arm for this model?
And are there people out there that sell spare parts for Lesneymodels?
Thanks!

Re: Magiruz-Deutsch missing arm.
Congratulations on your find!
I would hesitate before restoring such a rarity but, if you wish to go down that route, the best thing to do is to take the jib from a donor silver-bodied model, first ensuring that it is the correct casting.

Personally I would just rest a replacement arm in the mounting hole so as not to encroach on the originality of this rare beast, it would still look good on display without causing any damage

That's exactly what I would do.fixer wrote:Personally I would just rest a replacement arm in the mounting hole so as not to encroach on the originality of this rare beast, it would still look good on display without causing any damage

Re: Magiruz-Deutsch missing arm.
For now I would leave the Crane Truck alone and enjoy it! That color cab color is so rare, it is very valuable as-is. If you can search back to this one's source, you may find there is a loose boom somewhere from it. You have bought the tough part of it, and that appears to be in very nice shape. A red boom would be the correct earliest color boom type that I would prefer to see it with, but the later orange boom version seems to be rarer in the numbers that have survived with this light brown truck body. I am a third vote for simply resting another proper boom on it for display without effecting the originality of this rarity. What a Grand entrance you have made with this rare body L-esney, Thanks for showing it, and Welcome aboard. kwakers

Re: Magiruz-Deutsch missing arm.
Welcome to the forum L-esney. Nice catch and I agree with the idea of just using a spare Jib-Arm, to show what the model does look like to your friends. I would not attempt to restore the model as it is, you may cause more harm by securing the arm to the rear deck, just try and make the spare arm a loose fit, use Two little blobs of 'Blu-Tak' to help keep it steady.
I want to put one of pictures in the 'Holy Grail' section of the forum, but only with your permission.

Re: Magiruz-Deutsch missing arm.
Find a silver beater first. Drill a pilot hole with the proper bit for an 0-8- tap. Then grind out the entire rivet to remove it from the beater. Tap the hole in the removed jib for an 0-80 screw and install in on the tan unit, using the 0-80 screw and a washer. Easily removed and will never be mistaken for " a fake".

Thanks all for your replies!
I think I'm just going to leave the model as it is for now and if I ever come across the matching arm I'll try to buy it and let it rest on the model,... otherwise I'll probably do more damage than good tot the model.
But thanks again for the feedback guys!

It's heartening to see that, even after all these years, rarities such as this are still turning up!
