Hi all,
I wonder if any VBD menbers are heading to Charlie Mack's Matchbox USA convention in June?
I have not heard any more details about it - so is it still "on"??

Re: Matchbox USA convention?
Hi Kay,
I've not heard much buzz about Charlie's show either.
The "Matchbox USA' monthly mailings have been running late. I just received the February publication a couple of weeks back.
The show is listed in there as the "Northeast Regional Toy Show & Matchbox USA Convention Reunion". It is to be held June 13 & 14 with the convention activities on Saturday and the toy show on Sunday. It is to be held at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Cromwell, Connecticut.
I've debated going as that weekend heads into a week off work for me but my wife and I haven't finalized those plans.
You could check in with Charlie: MATCHBXUSA@aol.com
He could at least give you a registration count and let you know how many dealers he's got committed to the toy show.

Re: Matchbox USA convention?
kwakers plans on attending! The word from Charlie to a local collector who wants to be a Vendor at the Toy Show is that not very many people have signed up to sell there yet. From how I have read his Club mags, he made an announcement only in Nov.? of this re-union Convention with all details to follow, then failed to mention it at all in the December Club mag or even the January MB U.S.A. Club mailing under 'Toy Meets'(??), and just mentioned it again in the Feb. publication mailed late as Kay has said above. I just received that one last week. Hopefully everyone like myself will wake up and respond to Charlie this month to assure a successful event again this year. Having no word on it in his own publication seemed very strange to me, so maybe he has lost some 'regulars' because of his own delay? Perhaps Not? I will be there either way at least for June 14th's Toy Show. kwakers

Kwakers, will you be attending the Hershey show this year? I talked with DTE and it is a go as usual.

Re: Matchbox USA convention?
I would have loved to attend and support my friend Charlie, but sadly I had already planned the Albuquerque Gathering bundled in with a trip to USA with my niece for this July. There is just no way I can afford to go to USA 2 times in such a short time. So sadly, I wish him all the best of luck and success, but I will not be there.

Yes hydra427, if I am at all alive and kicking, I will be going to that Hershey AACA Museum Matchbox Show in September, as well as the Hershey AACA Car Show following it in October, the Spring and Fall Carlisle Car Shows, and also the Das Auctsfest (Sp.) Toy Show in Macungie Penn. the first weekend in August. These are all events I look forward to each and every year, having attended the Hershey and Macungie events since the early 1970s when regular wheel Lesneys could still be found left over in our U.S. stores. I will look forward to meeting and talking with any collectors after these shows wind down, detailist kwakers is always the last to leave 'The Hunt'......LOL

Re: Matchbox USA convention?
Today I received both a individually shipped invitation to the June Matchbox USA show as well as the March Matchbox USA magazine/newsletter. The June show is promoted with a little more energy in this new newsletter. So it seems Kay that the show is definitely still a "GO".

Is there any information online for the convention?
