On sale on Ebay.fr this week...

Post by davidlet »

Hello Matchbox Fans
I've found these 3 models up for auction on Ebay.fr (starting price is 1.00 euro). I've contacted the seller for more pics of their baseplates. See pics below. And congratulations to Nick who has done a very good job for us all. His forum is now much friendlier... Passion has always the last word..
Regards.

Maybe you should have kept these quiet?????

Anyway the cats out the bag. I would certainly want more information from the seller on these and some base shots before we could start thinking that they are pre pro/colour trials. The bronze mod rod (looks a light green in the photo) for a start has a very clean body but the wheels and hubs are very playworn. The paint on these 3 models looks very modern aswell, and just what is going on with the glazing on the mod rods, been through the wars me thinks or sand blasted!!!

So far i am not convinced however i would love to be proved wrong, lets see what the others think.

I agree these are most probably privately made repaints.

I agree too. The frosting of the Mod Rod windows is the giveaway for me.

Resprayed beaters -the heavy wear to glazing + wheels is proof enough for me!

That was my first instinct too. There is too much wear and tear on them elsewhere for the condition of the paint. But I have a feeling the custom work was done a number of years ago and they have probably sat there on display for a while.

:) :D :P
