Going to the Beach with a 1930 Stutz Bearcat

Post by matchboxmarcel »

Last night my time I won this vintage Matchbox Beach Blanket 1930 Stutz Bearcat on Ebay. The seller wrote that this older blanket was part of a collection from the 60’s to mid 80’s. Measures 30” x 56” Has been stored away for the past 15 years that he did knew of. May have seen the beach a few times he wrote and the material is still soft but thinning.

Charlie Mack wrote to me after my win he got his example in early 1980's. They were for sale in USA at KMart & the like discount stores.

There were no other bidders so got it at the startprice.
Very happy with this win.

Very nice Marcel! I don't believe these were a hot Seller because our kids were not generally Yesteryear collectors. If they had a large offroad Dump, or perhaps a Bulldozer on them, all our kids may have requested them as Christmas presents. The earlier 1915 Stutz Bearcat is a favorite of mine, and Fred Hoch has placed me behind the wheel of his at Hershey 2 years ago. The 1930 on this towel is very sporty, but a bit more enclosed than the earlier model with it's open bucket seats and no windshield design.
Our friend Charlie must be watching you on E Bay Marcel, you may be in trouble as you search for bargains. I am very surprised no one else bid on your towel, but I am afraid our Beach weather has ended here in upstate New York....LOL....kwakers
