Plum clearcoat over silver primer - very smart and 1st used on the Golden Jacks Mini Marcos of 1969. This was the same time period that Dinky made most of their red models deep candy red over silver or gold primer - it was certainly a fashion of the era 1969-71 to paint toys candy red perhaps because back in the 1960s with emerging paint technology candy red was rumoured to be the most difficult shade to mix consistently. Lesney also over used candy red at the time with even the MerryWeather fire engine gaining it.........
