Too me this variation of this model is very similar to the black wheeled variation of the Bedford "Dunlop" van. We've all heard they are out there but I've never held an authentic example of either in my hands. Your photos are too big for me to get a good look at but I hope you are one of the fortunate collectors to have one of these rarities for yourself.

The right hand side of the Tanker shows the stock domed end of the Lesney axle ends very clearly in your pictures lesney0905. Because this model is in fact one of the rarest wheel variations, I would like to see very clear pictures of the left hand axle ends that were spun at the Lesney factory when these black plastic wheels were installed. Two of your pictures don't come up for me, perhaps they are the ones I am asking for? kwakers

It took a while, but your other side axle end picture just came up for me. The axle ends look like they are perfect factory done spun axle ends to me, BUT........The holes in the center of these black wheels look to have been drilled out to slip over those smaller ends of these Tankers axles. If you have a stock GPW Tanker to compare this one to, I am sure you will see they have a much tighter fit on their axles than these BPW on this one. Wheels that have been drilled out are no longer tight on the axles at all, and they wiggle like heck when rolled on a counter top. With the model in hand the drilled wheels can be moved at angles to the axles unlike the 'stock' well fitting wheels. This one looks like a 'Filler' someone has made up out of a Beater they had, not the Holy Grail very few of us have ever seen in person. kwakers

This BPW specimen is not factory original. The webs have been drilled, the wheels have been drilled (see front wheel inner.clearly shows chipping) and the rounded axle-ends have been filed.

Another foto.Se anyone knows shrink my pictures you would see better details. I tried to "force" the wheels to get them out by the axes but it is impossible! The hole diameter of the wheels is too narrow to enter / exit from the axis without damaging the wheels. All the wheels are intact, both inside and from the outside of the holes, their sliding is perfectly right. This model I bought it many years ago, on ebay, from a German seller, along with others, in a lot, just because introvabile.Il seller did not know of its rarity, and sold it for about 50 euro!
