75 Alfa Carabo Variations

Post by nearlymint »

Been looking for the small wheel version for a while(left), not sure if its uncommon just struggled to find one. Unpainted base version has not been to bad to find although the new one pictured is a good upgrade.
Standard version on the right. Seems to be many shades on this model, not sure if I will get into them to much.J

Here are my Alfa Carabos (No. 75). In the first photo, the one on top has the thinner spoke wheels. Alongside it, an example with thicker spokes. One of my favourite Superfast era castings, an elegant design, well adapted from the Bertone original.

Have only seen tatty beaters with plated bases so far! I have always liked this model, got one as soon as it came out because it was the closest likeness toy available I could find to match Wacky Races ´´00´´ - amazing what imagination did for us as kids !

Here's a picture of the tempo printing for this model when it became a streaker model in 1975.

Mathias,
The full size photo shows a number of these models on the ground. I don't quite know why they are down there but like yours they have no tempo print on them.

Interesting factory error, Mathias, must be super-rare in any condition.
