Many thanks for your replies. Two more pics, showing no labels on this gold Mini + wheel numbers I managed to catch.

My earliest version has a white wheel strip then to brown then onto orange/red.
Seen a few of these gold ones now, maybe one day I will add one to the collection. J

While the picture of the Blue Mini is not clear, it looks like there are NO door hinges, so is it more likely to be a 'Colour Trial' on the Second body casting, as I recall the First body castings have the hinges, correct!

The blue Mini pic looks like it might be a normal width Mini rather than the daft wide thing Lesney put into production.

It looks like Matthias has copied an image from a book or magazine

C'mon Matthias where did you get the image from? Can you tell us anymore about who has this model in their collection?
Do you have it, if so can we get more images please? :)

borrowed this pic from Christians site credited to Vectis
looks to be the same as the one from Mathias, look at the foiling on the rear wheel, although the background is slightly different (cropped maybe)

I agree that it does look as though it might be a standard width Mini. However, if it ever existed, I would have expected this variation to pre-date the widened version, i.e. to be a pre-production. As such, I would also expect it to have the door details cast simply because, when the model was widened (if it was widened), the tooling for the sides could have been reused without any problems. Furthermore, if it were a standard-width model, Vectis would surely have highlighted this in their catalogue and it would be known of in collecting circles.
I therefore suspect that the apparent narrowness of this model is sadly but an optical illusion.
