You are brilliant Chris, Wade is the name of the company using the early 1-75 series I had heard about. Wade probably had the plating done on a 'Special' run of these 5Cs to supply as "Souvenir of London" ash trays for we Yanks to bring back to the Colonies. 'All flash for little cash'. Does Wade use a single screw in the center of your Bus' base to secure it Chris?? Without that mounting hole, Jeff's Hillman he asked about may never have been mounted on anything. It may have remained unused, or was done next door for a Lesney employee as Nick's friend recalled. WADE, this time I will also write that down in my 'Bible' as another note before I forget the simple name once more.....LOL kwakers

Wade were the company that made the pottery trays, They are quite a famous UK potters, Their proper name was Wade Ceramics.

Funny, The link in my last post showed this picture, Obviously from an early Moko / Wade product. It would not be a Yesteryear because the name Moko was not put on any Yesteryears. Curious

Well, we may be a bit off the orginal topic, but it wouldn't really be the forum if we didn't right?
Pictures of my Wade tray with bus, and yes, it is held in place with a single screw.

Was the base modified in any way or did the screw just screw directly in to the base of the bus? '
If this was so how do we know that this was an official Lesney item and not just someone putting these two items together for fun?

A bit of searching shows more examples exist and they have either all been done by the same person or Lesney did them and other normally painted models have been found on 'Giftware' items. Towards the end of the 'Giftware' period (1977-78), 'Superfast' models were mounted in this way and shown in catalogue images.

The time line for this doesn't make sense for me. When did the gift ware series start ? The earliest gift ware catalogue I have is 1963.The gift ware then was only the yesteryear models - plated.
The MB5B bus was gone by 1961. Shouldn't the bus on the dish therefore be the MB5C ? I could be wrong but I understood the bus models sold well which is why it stayed at number 5 for so long and was constantly up graded, I therefore doubt to many were left over to be used on gift ware 3 or 4 years latter.
