Nice condition Jason, congrats. This specimen & Gregs specimen lends credence to them having been fitted with decals in the initial production runs.

Yes possibly, because without the ridge to protect most playworn ones would loose all the decal. J

If the wires are original to that 41 Ford GT Jason, you better quit shopping in 2015 right now to leave us a few bits to find. As an old Race Fan, the wires look hideous to me, but as a Lesney collector, they sure do look like another legendary 'Holy Grail' model to add to your 2015 discoveries......Quit looking so hard and leave a few for us lad......    kwakers

Sorry Dick, I will try and slow down a bit now. 2015 has already been an outstanding year for me, here are a few pictures of the 41.

I have measured the axles , pulled the wheels for gluing on the axles and checked the wheels for drilling.

And why is that? The Matchbox Ford GT with wire wheels looks brilliant - and is more authentic! It's a model of a 1964 GT prototype, and those were originally fitted with wire wheels!

I'm stunned by all your recent finds Jason, I was just commenting on the 8 wheeled crane and had a glance at this thread and low and behold another very nice rarity has popped up! It must take a lot of hard work because these things don't just present themselves on a plate. This one is in nice condition as well, congratulations. (Are there any difference to note and I presume the wheels are identical 75b's?)

Thanks John, yes you are right it does take a lot of work but it's mainly time. This has been noted by my whole family, but luckily they understand how much I love my models and them of course.
Does make it all worth while when models like this appear, as for differences I cannot see any to note. the wheels do look the same as the 75b.
Happy hunting
Jason
