I did see a cream cougar with a baseplate that had no patent number, Unfortunately I can't remember where I saw it, I am sure the cream cougar exists both with and without patent number.

Everyone here noticed the fact that this Cougar oddity's body has no door spring studs, just as the original first body casting would have had none. Looking a bit closer at the more detailed front end base pictures of this same 'Odd' Cougar, everyone missed the fact that they clearly show the bonnet ridges of the third type body as detailed in both Nick's, and in Mick Stannard's Guides. That third body casting with these later bonnet ridges has only been seen and coded WITH the later door studs, so this Cougar oddity's body is now the first example of a previously unknown, and seemingly out of the 'normal' body casting timeline. Mick was the first to record these bonnet ridges in 1985, so it may be time for Forum members to check both these body casting details on all our #62 Cougars.
Another detail for members to check on their Cougars would be for the perfect chisel cut roof rivet that holds the glaze into this Cougar oddity. These chisel cut roof rivets are most commonly found on the #8 Mustang and also on the #25D Ford Cortina, along with several other Lesney models Antonin has shown us and we had discussed through the years. These perfectly done factory chisel cut roof rivets still remain uncoded, even though that 25D Cortina has it's variations coded using 3 other roof rivets/ treatments as also first noted by Stannard in his 1985 Lesney Guide.
Kwakers also has an early casting 'high' base 'A' cataloged on that 25D Cortina, identical to the one we already have noted on the above #62 Cougar, so when Idris or perhaps George reaches that model in their informative Forum discussions, some additional work may have to be done to update Nick's Guide on that #25 Ford Cortina's known details.......That's enough chaos and confusion for St. Valentine's Day morning here in the U.S., hug your Honey today!...... kwakers
