Hi Mike,
These #5 decals look proper to me and this is a known variation for the decals on this 41B casting. You and Nico have become very good variation hunters in recent years!

Looks good to me also, Mike. I just sold one like it and it looked the same. Yours is in better shape, though.

I have to disagree, The model is badly chipped but the decals are near perfect, I think it has been faked.

Mike,
Greg is correct that this is a know variation and should normally be with the "wire wheel" version of 41B. However, I am with Nick on this one that the overall playwear of the model does not seem to be consistent with the wear on the decals. I really can't see the condition of the real decal, but it doesn't look like it has much wear at all. The originality of factory decals is a difficult thing to determine as many "replacements" are available.
However, if you can acquire the model for a low price, it may be worth going ahead as this variation is pretty difficult to come by........................

Both the A & the B variants are often found very beat up but with good decals. Take your D-Type Jags and put them upside down ... you will soon discover that it's shape protects the decal areas quite well. Even the locating rings help protect the edges of the decals.
This is a common deliema with this model and I often see collectors passing over authentic variations because they think the decals are too nice compared to the rest of the model. I looked at the pics and I think everything looks good. My opinion is that it's the real thing with original decals.

It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Playwear is a strange thing sometimes, zBret's example shows quite even wear to the decals but this one shows a lot of front end action and not much at the back despite extensive wear to the green paint.
