My dear friend Fox, if you click on the Blue link at the bottom of my posting (where you have...Corgi-toys ergo sum...), and look in the Corgi section, the all-Silver and all-Gold Silver Shadow versions are the models "SMS88" is talking about.

Oh really, I have had several examples of both colours and I would not say I have noticed distinct shades, only very minor shades, which is normal for a mass produced commercially available model like those.

I havent seen the red Silver Cloud before, very nice! Car transporter looks wonderful loaded up! The timeline of the Silver cloud production is shown by the numberplates - the dark gold model naturally the first, blue probably 2nd with light gold third, with final production after the red returning to light gold with newer H plates

Ebay is awash with wheel swaps - the red spot wheels on the Rolls arent anything I ever saw prior to this millenium and may well be fakes - I would need to see lack of lever marks on the inside edges showing that these could not have been squeezed off axles on common red spot models to believe that they are not fake as the 273 remained in production into the common Whizzwheels era and there is no evidence I am aware of that any 280s were made in the red spot production window

Just had a look at your Dinky section - the Silver Cloud is 1/43 not 1/42 - the proof is that it matches the 1/43 Politoys M series in length and wheelbase to the exact mm. When Dinky took over Spot On, their final few new castings were precise 1/43 not the old 1/42 - best examples are the Austin 1800 (identical length and wheelbase to Vanguards) and Jaguar S type. With both Dinky and Spot On making their own versions of the Austin 1800 it shows that Spot On kept a great degree of independence until the factory burned

I expect I will find one here for about £30 in good not mint unboxed condition maybe even this year. I paid £20 for my good not mint blue SCIII and under £6 each for my pair of tatty gold ones which makes them affordable when I am not a Rolls specialist!
