How rare are the yellow and "two wire" tow hooks ?
Although the gray hook is often presented as rare, it is in my opinion rather easy to find. The yellow hook variation is really not easy to find and I rarely see the two wire variation. Your thoughts ?
My yellow hook model did not come cheap, although still at a fair price. I got my double wire in a 15$ unboxed lot of half a dozen models on the favorite auction site.

Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

The double rope hook and yellow hooks are easily interchangeable from other models so I wouldn't pay any more for them than the normal red hook.
The grey hook, I'm not sure if it came on any other model, so you might pay a little more for that one. I don't think it's as common as the red one or the others thinking about it. Still only my opinion for what it's worth!

Certainly one of the 10 best RW castings in most collectors´s opinions! Not the 1st but one of the earliest to carry an authentic looking numberplates, its the detailing like the word KEW which makes this toy so charming........
The fact that it only takes a few seconds to swap hooks can make it much more cost effective for collectors to swap hooks between common models to make the desirable hook error variations.Indeed, unless sealed in a blisterpack, the odds are such variations were made this way by collectors not the factory.......

I agree with Mick (cue readers gasping in amazement): hook variations, like label and decal variations, are too easily faked and should not be purchased at a premium.

I too agree about not paying a premium for these. I bought my yellow hook model new in the toy shop, back in the day. I've no doubts about it being authentic. I'm sure red double rope hooks came from the factory too. I am also sure more of both of these exist now than the factory produced.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
