Hi Steven.
I have not seen this model before but it appears to be a modern toy packaged up to look like an older piece, And you're right, The timeline is completely wrong, In 1966 Lesney did not use this type of wheels or use blister packaging, and quite what they mean by "collect all 32 models" is beyond me,
I would also like to see the baseplate,
Nick Jones.

Hi Guys, this looks like a 2007 issued Mattel 'Hot Wheels' model to me.

The 1966 date, is when the TV series was cleared for it's original transmission and any official toys based on it, had to be licenced as such. This particular model does not date back to 1966, as shown, so the date is simply acknowledging the fact, the model is based on an original TV based fictional vehicle.

Regards,
GHOSTHUNTER.

So that's why there's not a picture of the baseplate, obviously done to catch the unwary -

I agree the model is probably a Hot Wheels product.

The packaging must have been made privately, but it looks very professional indeed.

I also want to point out that the Matchbox logo used on that packaging is the modern type introduced in 2005, which is distinguished from earlier styles by the omission of the quotation marks.

The model itself was a Comic Con Exclusive. A very large convention held in San Diego. National Periodical Publications is DC Comics.
It's Mattel all the way.

Aha, that explains it, I think most of us are familiar with comic con from the alien film 'Paul'
I don't suppose you know what year it was produced Jeff ?. (it certainly was not 1966 lol)

Hi Nick,

2007 was the year. The model was released in a plastic box. Not sure whom may have done the packaging for this particular one but it's nice.
Paul is a great movie. Comic Con has become so popular that the San Diego has proposed expanding the convention center. Hope they do.
The Spandex gets tighter ever year. Something about women super heroes.............
