70b Ford Grit Spreader incomplete casting but assembled

Post by yellowfoden »

OOPS

Here is an example where the casting was formed but the tongue section was missing before painting.
It went through the paint process and was then assembled. Even without the tongue the base is very much securely in place with just the base rivet.
I guess this is testament to the tough quality even when the casting is incomplete.
Quite interesting that it made it past a couple of stages in manufacture process and not be rejected along the way.
Two close up photos show the inside of the cab with one showing tongue cut off and the other normal type.
Recently Mathias showed a similar fault or oops on a 7c Ford Refuse truck.
