ebay question

Hi I have resently sold a big Lego ship on Ebay and listet that the shipping was 12£, but due to the odd shape of the box and the weight the shipping is 30£ from DK to UK. So can I ask the bidder to pay that or must I pay for my own mistake? It is alot compared to the sale price.

I just want to do what I must do within the ebay rights. I could read ebay rules but my english is not that good when it comes to that sort of text.

Hi Jazz, sorry about you're problem. This is not my specialist area but I think you have entered into a contract with the buyer, so you would be expected to honour the transaction. You could try and see if the buyer would pay the extra postage, but I guess we know what the answer will probably be.

This has happened to me as a buyer. I was messaged to say that the postage cost was completlely wrong and then within an hour I received another message saying the item was no longer available or broken. The transaction was cancelled by the seller and I was refunded without my agreement. (In order for a seller to get their fees back, a case is opened and if the buyer agrees, then fees are usually refunded). So in my situation, the seller lost their fees and I think I left negative feedback, but I can't remember clearly because it was years ago.

Well as I suspected I must ship the item and then see what happens. I will try to ask if we could split. But This solution by cancelling the auction is not an option. I always want to be fair.

Cancelling the auction is always an option if you have made a serious mistake in the listing or if the item is lost damaged or otherwise no longer available. Understating the true shipping cost through no fault of your own beyond ignorance of special charges for oversize shapes is a good reason to cancel.Selling on ebay is business not charity -you are not responsible for obscure terms in Post.dk pricing policy

I would send the buyer an Ebay-mail explaining the situation and asking if, given the circumstances, they would allow you to cancel the transaction.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and this would also provide a chance of either not being out of pocket or of avoiding negative feedback.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the feedbak. I have email the buyer and explained why this mistake was made by me. I have said if he really wants the ship I will do a split of the extra 18£ shipping or I will write ebay and get them to cancel the auction. I am trying to be as honest and polite I can and just hope that this will not be my first negativ feedbak in 16 years on ebay. (more that 700 deals)

I watched your Great Lego ship auction because a friend of mine here collects Legos Jazz. I am sure your Buyer will understand, and may even agree to extra shipping costs, but have you tried shipping another way to bring down your costs? I always agree to slow cheap shipping on my E Bay purchases, and that gives Sellers like you cheaper shipping. I don't like the idea of cancelling the sale over just $30 U.S. in extra shipping, but that is just me. I go back to work, make up that extra lost money, and always learn a lesson when I make mistakes. Good Luck Jazz! kwakers

Hi I have shipped the item and paid the ekstra cost. Now I just hope the guy will not give me a negative feedback.

No reason for them to Jazz your end of the deal has been kept by paying the extra postage costs, when you could have cancelled the sale
