Diecast plastic - does that count?
Wiking in 1:40, plastic. W trademark on the baseplate and "Made in Germany" only. Detailed engine under the body! I think it is a promo for the 1969 model.

Re: VW Beetle, Wiking in 1:40 scale
This is a dealer promotional model. VW contracted 'WIKING' to produce a model for each year's new car and the models would only be available through new car dealerships. The idea started in the Fifties and went upto at least the mid-60's.
Saloon versions of these models tend to have...VW Export Limousine...printed on the box end-flap, despite the models made as 'Left-Hand' drive cars!
Because these are 'Promotional' models and not 'Retail' models, Wiking only moulded a Double 'W' on the baseplates instead of their usual 'WIKING' name and no country of origin.

Great link Malibu. Surprised to see it suggests the...MADE IN GERMANY... appears on the baseplate of those 1/40th Beetle models, the Two examples I have seen did not have this, so not sure what is going on there...!

Having now seen some other examples of the 40th scale models through links provided elsewhere, the ...MADE IN GERMANY...does appear on the bases of models, but not all of them and those links are to some well informed websites featuring what may be the whole 'WIKING' range.

Hi,
Ghosty you are absolute right.
This page is the best for Wiking-Collectors like me.
In the last few years I made a list of all my models and I found every single one correctly listed on this page.
Must have been a lot of work.
Stephan

I think you should put the same link here for that website, as other members of this forum may find it as interesting, OK.
