My 2014 Superfast finds

Post by Johnny Pimp »

2014 was a quiet collecting year for me, but I did manage to pick up this bunch of models: -

Image

The Porsche 910 with clear windows came as part of a swap deal with Dr Jazz and the Caddy ambulance has the RW body without beacon surround.

I was very pleased to find this site truck with 1 rivet and 2 hole baseplate, as it saves me turning over any more of this uninspiring model!

Image

Managed to upgraded both my Merryweather with thin sill and Lotus Europa with open bumper ends.

Image
Image

Found my third RW body Rolls. There certainly appear to be a few out there if you look hard enough.

Image

I already had a lime Group 6 with pink base, but the light green metallic with yellow base is a first for me.

Image

And to finish off, a trio of bronze Ford GT's with thin wheels, including a couple with enlarged arches. Still on the lookout for an enlarged arches model with green base.

Image

Cardboard-wise, I finally got my hands on a last issue 48 Dodge Dump Truck 'I' box.

Image

I stumbled across this unlisted 41 Ford GT box with the 'specification' blurb on the end flap tip.

Image

I was also extremely happy to find a 31 Lincoln Continental 'G' box without 'TM' marks. Either I wasn't looking hard enough, or these things really are like the proverbial hens teeth!

Image

So there you go, my 2014. I hope everyone's keeping well and I look forward to catching up on the Superfast posts.

Great selection focusing on quality not quantity, most are still missing from my collection but I did add about 100 cars net to my collection in 2014

Very nice selection John, you had a good year I would say. As usual all nice minty models.
Nice to see you posting.

An amazing selection John. I'm most jealous of the Dodge Dumper box - very nice - you just have to find the one with the "New Model" now  :ugeek:

Welcome back Mr Pimp...wait a minute, that don't sound very good, does it! welcome back Johnny.

Some really good models you have shown in your pictures, especially the 'Trim-Strip' #24 Rolls-Royce. Any chance you can let us know if the wheels are smooth, treaded, solid or hollow and if possible the wheel mould numbers, bit of a task I know, but see how you get on.

Regards,
GHOSTHUNTER.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

In response to Mick's post, I don't have the room for quantity these days, so selective buying is the only way forward!

Gavin, the Dodge Dumper box was an itch that needed scratching. My main focus is on the G boxes and to a lesser extent, the transitional F's. However, if a model originally came in one, or both of those styles, I also like to add the later style box(es). Very smart looking it is too, and far and away my favourite of the 'I' style boxes. However, I won't be breaking the bank for a 'New Model' variation anytime soon!

Ghosty, you and your Rollers! As you know this one is a regular wheel body with small rear wheel arches. I'll have to check the mould numbers but they are very early IIRC. I actually have two of these with all solid wheels and one with all hollow. The hollow ones are interesting as they retain the tread pattern which I cannot remember seeing too many times before.

Thanks Johnny, yes I know, me and my Rollers, it's a disease with no apparent cure...!

Tread pattern on 'Hollow' wheels...new to me, don't think I have any of those...more searching the toy fairs then!

I look forward to those numbers, many thanks.

Best regards,
Ghosty.
