'Dinky Toy' copies.

Hi all,
I'am a pure matchbox collector, but that's a very interesting thread, too.
It's always fascinating, seeing great toy manufacturers being copied by a lot of other firms.

When I saw your Ford D Series, misterpop, I remember two (similar) toy lorries, which I always take to the beach in vacation in Denmark, when I was a little boy!

Could you post a closeup of the hubs/ wheels? would be interesting to know if it's the same manufacterer. They must be somewhere in our garage

I think this NFIC is a Dinky copy.
Because it has a chauffeur and... opening windows as the Dinky got.

Made in 1965.

Here is a Direct copy of the 'DINKY TOYS' Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III, #127.

The first model on the left is the regular Dinky issue in Gold with light Blue interior, the middle model is a very unusual dark Gold issue and the last model on the right is the plastic copy by 'LUCKY TOYS'.

It was always known the Lucky was a direct copy of the Dinky model, but the colour was never a close match, that was until I found the model in the middle in the picture, that is in a colour very close to the plastic copy.

Now another oddity is the fact the model in the middle in dark Gold does not have any glazing and the plated trim has virtually all gone! This model has always been secured by a rivet, so the glazing has not been removed that way and can only have been removed by braking it 'in situ' then pulling the pieces out with small pliars, but why!

I agree with Reg, the most likely explanation is that the glazing got damaged through use and a former owner removed it to make the model look better. Just a thought Ghosty.

Just had another look at the plastic car and boat on trailer that Tim is selling in his post above and it is currently just under 12 British pounds and something like 12 bidders watching it...that's actually quite good news for Tim, because the model is not particularly rare, several of them can be found on auction sites and I would consider that sum of money about right for that sort of item, good luck Tim.
