When Best to Browse?

I have been pondering the following question: when do you have most chance of buying a rare or htf item as an Ebay Buy-it-Now? (Normally I only scan the first couple of pages of BiNs first thing in the morning, working on the basis that anything worth having which was on page 3 and above will be long since gone.)
It's a deceptively easy-looking question because the answer relies on two separate assessments: i) when are there likely to be fewer collectors browsing the BiNs, and ii) when are people most likely to list new BiNs? To a lesser extent, there is also the matter of geography since not all rarities and htfs are evenly distributed around the World and this must therefore affect when they are listed.

That's what makes it such an interesting question: Ebay is open for both listing and browsing 24 hours/day.

I think the best way is for someone (Reg) to go through all the completed rare bin listings and report back with a full analysis. (date,timezone,country,seller ID, time of listing, time of sale, item description, category, rarity, value, etc).

I haven't got a good answer for that. But I can share my experience.
BiN bargains always result, to myself, from a seller's misunderstanding.
1) sometimes a seller believes he has gold in his pockets. So it want a incredibly price for his toys. But he thinks any variations are worth the same. And incidently one of his gems... is sometimes a real gem. But the price remains the same than the common ones...
2) a variant of 1) is a seller than is not a specialist in the range of the toys he's selling. But he went thru the web to see last sell results. So he wants a little bit higher price than the ones he saw (some sellers thinks their items are always better than the other seller's ones, I still don't know why). But he just made a mistake like to bilieve his item is as common as the one he saw, haven't noticed the specifics of his one. Recently I bought an original (i.e late 1950's) Quiralu because the seller wanted many many money for what he belived a 1994 re-issue. But an original is worth 3 to 4 times an re-issue these days.
3) some folks are in a hurry.

Usually BiN are absolutely no bargains.

Been a court case here in Germany recently where someone ended his auction early after a bid had been made. The bidder sued for damages and won! The seller had to compensate the bidder for the difference between his bid and the value of the object. I believe the auction was for a generator and the bidder had placed a €1,00 bid on it as the auction was ended by the seller. The generator was valued at €8.500,00 and the court decided the seller must pay the bidder the difference as compensation for ending the auction early.
So MM be careful if you are dangling money in Germany
