There are several members who have expressed some difficulty in viewing very large images on their screens. Unless the image is reduced in the 'Paint' programme on your PC before you post it onto the forum, it will be displayed on your screen in a cropped format, most of the time if you simply left-click on the image it will expand into a larger image, but other much larger images are still difficult to see.

Images of 'Megabyte' sizes will be huge and the software that 'phpBB' uses does a good job in trying to display such large images, but they are drastically cropped.

A fairly simple workround is to reduce the size of your whole screen image, just for those few 'huge' posted images.

I use Google Chrome and at the top right corner there is a little box of three black lines, click on this and you will get the zoom function, just reduce the setting until the huge image is acceptable and store the image by pressing the 'Print Screen' key, (then just...open paint, edit, paste and adjust image as you want and save it).

If you use Internet Explorer, there is a blue cog wheel at the top right corner, click on this and you will get the zoom options.

The images below will show both browser headings and if one or both images here are not full size, just left click on them.

Here is what you get when taking a picture of your PC screen image, lots of wonderful lines. If you zoom in and out while its on your own computer, you will see the lines change, in some cases it looks like the lines may go away, but they are just minimised.

This is the final version of the same picture. It has been taken through 'Paint' and some exposure/colour tweaking and will give you at least something of a record of your picture from the old Lefora site.

It took about 6 minuets using basic programmes on my laptop, nothing specially downloaded and nothing purchased seperately from the shops, (wow, there's something you don't hear a lot these days...shops...).

There is another method of clearing the lines, (the 'moire' effect) and that involves a decent printer, I may go into that at a later date.

Hi guys,

This is not the correct place for the tip below, but is connected and will be handy.

It is using the 'Drag-N-Drop' method of saving images from the old Lefora site.

Pop into the site, open an image, minimise the page so you have only got it on the left hand side of your screen, open a pictures folder, minimise this and put it on the right hand side of the screen.

Now just put your cursor on the Lefora image, hold down the left click button and slide it across with your mouse or touch pad, into any space on the right hand side, and it is now in a folder on your PC for posterity.

The image below shows you exactly how it all looks.

GHOSTY, thanks for all the photo tips.

Like my new avatar? I did it all myself, haha. Actually, I downloaded a public domain photo, and then tried for like an hour to resize it to this site's avatar specs. I even re-read a bunch of your posts, but all I could manage to do (via paint) was reduce the pixel size. The file size always remained too large. (I swear I used to know how to do this some years ago, but oh well...)

Anyway, I gave up and took the easy way out. Great free site on the net... they don't make you sign up, download anything, nothing. Clean and quick. I'm not selling anything here btw, but it helped.

Hi Gh, I tried the drag and drop method early on because it's usually the easiest way to copy, but I just get the black circle with a diagonal line through it, and the image is not picked up. I can't pinpoint why though.

this sounds normal with the black 'Forbidden' symbol, but you should see a smaller version of the image behind this, indicating that you have indeed picked it up.

Just for completeness, what browser are you using, I am with Google chrome, it should not make a difference, but the way PC's have behaved for me in the past, nothing surprises me anymore. I will try it with Microsoft I.E. but pretty sure it will be OK.

Thanks Ghosty (or is it Arnie?). Yes, I was using ie and the photos were not picked up at all, but I've just tried Chrome and Firefox and it does work with both of those!

Hi, Arnie here,

Just tried it with I.E. and surprise, surprise, it didn't work, it would not pick up the image, so anyone trying this method of saving, should temporarily change their 'Browser' from Microsoft Internet Explorer, to Google Chrome.

Thank's Johnboy for bringing that forward, another 'Minus' towards my dislike for Microsoft software...
