Hi Mike, the hydrosleeves are the same but fitted in different ways iirc. Have a look from above.

These are die numbers, They make it easier to find out which dies need repairing / replacing.

Re: 51c AEC 8 whell tipper ?
Mike If the casting is defective or there is another problem with it, the number on the casting (1,2 etc) will match the number on the die that was used. So at the factory, the workers knew which die needed inspection. There were numerous dies and without a number it would be hard to find the defective die.mike wrote:nickjones wrote:These are die numbers, They make it easier to find out which dies need repairing / replacing.

You are a great help.
Please for a further information.
I compare the models with Nick's photos on his website.
(Baseplat thicker on left / on right)
I see no difference in my models?
Cheers Mike

Re: 51c AEC 8 whell tipper ?
The earlier Hoveringham Foden looks to have the same body as this later AEC but when I decided to do my own code 3 Hoveringham AEC, I found that the earlier body doesn't fit. It isn't far out but it is completely different.
Re: 51c AEC 8 whell tipper ?
I'm looking forward to more information on this topic.

Yes, they are pretty much the same size but completly different. Still, where there is a will there is a way:AJR wrote:The earlier Hoveringham Foden looks to have the same body as this later AEC but when I decided to do my own code 3 Hoveringham AEC, I found that the earlier body doesn't fit.
