You both are absolutely right! There's nothing worse than a soggy control tower.
Here is one of my latest additions this year:
A mixed King size/ Major pack #8 guy car transporter. King size cab and Major pack trailor.
I got it from Ebay and was very happy to get it for 10€ (postage already inklusiv) allthough the titel of the auction read "King size" and "Major pack" and the seller addet a base picture, too.
It survived the childrens hands well and I would say it's in fair to good condition.
I'am a big fan of the Major-Pack range, so this is a new highlight for me, beside my Racing Car Transporter variation.
I wish you all a merry christmas.
Greetings,
Linus

Re: New in Sir_Matchbox_96's collection!
Yes, a quite unusual piece, and the first one I have ever seen - I found it in the US, and I think it has only been made for the US (it would have had some French language printings if it would have been made for Canada).Sir_Matchbox_96 wrote:Thanks a lot Johnboy. I think Kay told me it was only available in Canada?! (Hilfe Kay! )Very nice Linus, I've not seen one before. But no planes?
Here is a picture with some planes...I don't have correct planes from the 70's in good shape.
The row at the front show some newer (mattel made) planes. I played with them as a child...they still looking good
Greetings,
Linus
I only knew the bigger fold-out Airport Carry Case made for the US market, with all the fold-out buildings made in plastic.
I'm very happy that it ended up in a good collection of a Matchbox collecting youngster!

Re: New in Sir_Matchbox_96's collection!
Hi all!
Thanks for your post Kay...informative as always!
I will start 2015 with a second case. It was made by Sears Roebuck & Co. under license from Lesney.
I think it was only available in the Usa, maybe just for one year (1973) but I'am not sure on that one.
For the fact that it's completely made of hard and recalcitrant plastic/Vinyl, there is just small damage.
It came with 4 early Superkings, all in good shape, too.
It must have been a lot of fun, playing on this B I G area. It costs a lot of space (also when it's closed), but by the way I'am working on three new showcases (one from ikea + handmade) and hope that I will be able to display all my matchbox toys well.
I wish you all a happy new year 2015! You all stay healthy and I wish you the best for your families!
Happy collecting,
Linus

Re: New in Sir_Matchbox_96's collection!
That does look like it was fun to play with, although I am not too sure about those steep ramps...!
Don't think we had this type of interactive toy in the UK, we had those cardboard fold-flat ones where you built the buildings and glued them to the baseboard but when you had finished on the Construction site or down on the Farm, you could fold it all up into a flat pack and the buildings folded up like a 3D book and opened out again the next time.
Until recently I still had my original Construction site, but fear it may now have been thrown away with some other stuff, said to be damaged (by Mother-you see, parents still throw away your old toys!!).
Thanks for showing it here Linus and you have a Happy New Year too.

Hello Linus, happy new year to you and your family I've not seen this before and you're right, it's a big set to display but it would have had plenty of play value at the time. Were Matchbox covering their bases or feeling the heat a little with the wording? (Designed for Matchbox King Size and other Miniature Vehicles).

Good point Johnboy. These Days it would be stated something like..."Other medium sized toy cars are available"

Re: New in Sir_Matchbox_96's collection!
Hi all!
Thanks for your kind comments Ghosthunter and Johnboy, always welcome!
Here are two (of three) new showcases. The one hanging one the wall I bought from Ikea. I painted it white, I put some extra shelfes in there and installed Led's.
The second is handmade. It takes place in an old unused tiled stove. I build a box from hardboard and installed some light, too.
A good friend will make a plexiglass window for me, I already made a frame.
Hope you like it.
Greetings,
Linus
