VBD Auctions
Re: VBD Auctions
That's a great site to use Nick - really easy to put a listing up. I've done 4 listings, more to get used to using the site than in hope of setting pulses racing
Fingers are crossed it takes off.

Grrrrrrrr............
I seem to be the only b***** that can't use it !. I need a second paypal account so I can paypal myself the 20p with so I can get my auctions to actually go live lol.
And it took me three unsuccessful attempts to upload my auction to learn this

Re: VBD Auctions
I surfed around at the new auction site for awhile. Looks promising, and I hope it takes off!
Questions, though: How is the 20p. per listing paid; in other words, does the site just automate an invoice/debit immediately, and by what method of payment?
2nd, I assume the seller dictates all payment terms, whether via paypal/credit card/money order, or whatever, correct?
3rd, the few listings I looked at leave something to be desired with the photographs. I think most people bidding on vintage diecasts, especially if this auction site were to hit the big time, would require multiple, large, high-resolution pictures. Am I missing something, or is it up to the seller to upload said images, or is it a limitation of the site?
Thanks for all your hard work and I wish you success,
Alan

Re: VBD Auctions
Hi guys,
There does not seem to be a link to the VBD Auction site in the 'Quicklinks' section yet, I guess Nick will get round to it, soon...he is a busy little tinker you know, so we will have to be patient.
Cheers,
Ghosty.

Re: VBD Auctions
Hi Alan.
At the moment the 20p fee is payable before your auction goes live, But there is an option to use it as an account system but I don't quite understand how it works so I am a bit wary of altering it, I will have another look tomorrow and try and figure it out.
Yes the seller does dictate how payment is made, but the site is pre loaded with about 10 different online payment systems which is much better than ebays paypal only system.
Agreed, The pictures are a bit on the small side, but you can click the "view full size images" button underneath the photo's to enlarge them a bit and I'm pretty sure I will be able to increase them to a satisfactory size once I find my way around, It's a whole lot of new learning for me and I'm not exactly the quickest to learn.
But I think with the multitude of payment options, the wide variety of auction types and the ease of use without big brother ebay looking over your shoulder should make it a winner, and as Tim recently found out ebay had recently frozen his paypal account for no fault of his own, Luckily he got it cleared up but it could have been worse, plus the fact 20p is a small fraction of what ebay or anyone else charges, All we really need is some of the bigger ebay sellers to come and inject a bit of interest and it will fly. And we might just have Rockertron along soon to do just that !.

Re: VBD Auctions
Regarding the feeble pictures....last week I spent an hour doing my first listing to find the auction site was a duffer so this week I think myself and the other sellers are probably just testing the water to see what works and what dosnt before going all out ..I am sure our pictures will get better as time gos on.My E type pic was crushed and dried out again like an unfortunate fiver thats been through the wash......Rather that than have to start again...Cheers all......To all the other listers....This could be the start of something big as my viewings lately on Ebay have been very down but something tells me the guys on here will be supporting us up to the hilt..
Heres the man with the bargains.Always open to offers from this sites members..http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/misterpop/m.h ... m=&_ipg=25

Re: VBD Auctions
I just had a look at the "view full size images" function on the auction site, I managed to increase the image size from 500 to 1000 pixels so it should enlarge to almost the full screen size now.
Hopefully that is another hurdle out of the way, They are not showing this size in the already uploaded auctions but I think any new auctions will...

Re: VBD Auctions
Thinking about Al's comment regarding the 20p payment having to be made before the auction goes live, I think this may not be such a bad idea after all, If we have an account system where you have to pay when you get to a certain level we are probably going to be flooded out with spammers, We must have deleted 1000 spam accounts since this forum started. The 20p advance payment would keep them out.
