27b Bedford Low Loader - unlisted variation

Post by Diecast »

There is listed one colour variation of the light/dark green cab and some wheels/axles variations. No casting variation. I have one more variation of the trailer.
a) light tan trailer
b) dark tan trailer

Hello Antonin about the 27b model Trim to the fronts, I have the same as yours, the full trim is the MW model, the less trim one is the
model with GPW, this less trim is also on the Dark Green cab.

But I have three very different colours of the trailers as shown below.

Hi George
Thanks for checking it. On your model is nicely visible the silver trim on the headlights, on my model is no visible silver trim on the headlights. The question is whether it is a variation or my silver trim was just during the time wiped off. As I have checked once more my trailer, I have found the same shades of the tan painting as on your nice photos.

Very Happy New Year to all

Hello Antonin, Further checking shows my Dark Green cab Silver trim completely different to the Light Green cab. on the Dark Green cab there is no Silver on the headlights and never was. Also the part at the top of the Grille is Green and not Silver as on the Light Green one.

The light parts that show on the Dark Green headlights are just a reflection from the over head lighting on the ceiling.

Also the trailers can come on different cabs, as my Dark Tan trailer came with the Dark Green cab. :o :?

Antonin, George, your chart matches the four examples I have.
My metal wheeled model has the hand applied paint to grill, bumper and headlights:

Two examples with light green cab and GPW. The cleaner model has the mask-sprayed grill and headlights.
Image

The rough example is one from my childhood collection and like George's model I see no evidence of paint on the headlights. Just silver spray on the grill.

And the dark green cab model also has mask spray on the grill and headlights.

Thanks Greg for checking it. Has someone here the dark green model with HA silver trim? This model has Stannard mentioned in his list, but I have not seen it up till now.

I'm confused Antonin - Stannard only lists the dark green cab with trim to the grille and headlights. My dark green cab matches Stannard's description.
