Cold is also a factor where lead is involved with zinc. I would not subject any military models or early 50's models to such temp changes. These models have high lead content in the paints. This could cause areas of the paint to turn brownish or yellowish.
On the other hand, they are all Mike's models and he is free to enjoy them, handle them and place then where ever he sees fit. My comments are to address concerns that such handling might be harmful and I've stated the perils of such handling.
